Get the app (no app store)
The FlUck phone app is a small Android app that opens this site's phone collector (the same web app you get at https://fluck-camera.com/collect/) with GPS handled the Android way. It is not on any app store: you download the file here and install it yourself. It asks for location and internet only (no camera, contacts or storage), and it needs no account.

Install it in four steps
- Download the file on your phone. Chrome may say “this type of file can harm your device”: that is the standard warning for any app that did not come from a store. Choose Download anyway.
- Open the file. Android will ask you to allow installing from this source (Settings → Install unknown apps → your browser or Files app → Allow). That switch is per app and you can turn it off again afterwards.
- Install. If Play Protect says it does not recognise the app, choose More details → Install anyway. It is unrecognised only because it is not in the Play Store.
- Open FlUck, allow location While using the app, pick a handle and a name for your phone, and tap Connect. Mount the phone on your dash: the screen stays on while the app is in front.
Check it is the real file
Compare the checksum above with the one your phone or computer computes (shasum -a 256 fluck.apk on a Mac or Linux, certutil -hashfile fluck.apk SHA256 on Windows). The signing-certificate fingerprint is the same for every release, so an update signed by anyone else will not install over this app. If you prefer, build it yourself from the source (below) and compare.
No Android phone, or no APK?
- Any phone: open https://fluck-camera.com/collect/ in your browser and choose Add to Home screen (on an iPhone: Share → Add to Home Screen). Same app, no install file.
- Raspberry Pi or webcam: see Add a camera for the one-line setup.
The source code and the device files
Everything is open source (AGPL-3.0): the server, this app, and the files for building and registering your own Pi camera.
- The repository (everything: server, apps, installers)
- gateway/: the Raspberry Pi camera software and its setup
- android/: this Android app, and how to build it yourself
- server-php/ and the install guide: run your own copy
The repository may be private while the project gets ready, in which case those links will not open yet.
The app only opens this site in a window and passes your phone's GPS to it. Using it is lawful recording from public places, like anything else on FlUck; see Why this is legal. Never operate your phone while driving.
